I see no issue with the allowance of an unarmored, unarmed man wearing different clothes having a slight history in the Zone in which he used to be armed. I assume most people will be like such through character transfer pages and applications as well. The area we're in, in-game and in-lore, is described to have both veterans and rookies of all kinds.
