Gnomes are short and stubby human like beings who have adopted a nomadic lifestyle for their own protection. They are knowledgeable in navigation as most are born on the road.
Gnomes are an old race. Slightly younger than the human race. Most mothers tell their children that they'll turn into a gnome should they not finish their food or misbehave, understandably so as they look like stubby little human beings. They cannot hold their own lands as they are not adept fighters in any way. They pose an easy target for practically anyone who is above average height or who is moderately skilled in combat. As a result they have turned to living a nomadic lifestyle. Travelling from town to town trading their goods for food and materials. They are sought after in some respects, they are adept at mining due to their small size, they can dig tiny tunnels and reduce the probability of a cave in rather than a team of humans hewing at a rockface to carve out a hole large enough to walk through.
